2015 Château Léoville Barton, St Julien, BordeauxFull bodied, powerful, and loaded with flavours of forest fruits, plums, cigar box, and vanilla. This is another benchmark wine from the Bartons in 2015. There is a real spicy character to the wine, some charm and lots of finesse. A pleasing sweetness emerges on the finish. Well balanced, the soft tannins are nice and grainy, and pleasingly integrated. Cassis, black cherries, and blackberries dominate. A very tasty St Julien and unquestionably a wine

this is more restrained that usual and will need time to reach its best

In sum this is an old school vintage for the Leflaive Chevalier so I would suggest buying it only with the clear intention of cellaring it for the long-term

Ripe exuberant strawberry fruit is evidenced as always

This wine has terrific ease and drinkability

The palate is fine

Mild summer temperatures meant that the harvest also came later

There is a great depth of ripe fruit

You have needed to be patient with most Pauillac 2005s

There is lovely purity here
